| Call to Order | President Ileane Thal called the meeting to order at 7:32 P.M. but suspended the order of the agenda. |

| Approval of Minutes |
Paul Vander Meer moved that the minutes of the May 16, 2005 meeting be approved as written. Joan Heinicke seconded. After discussion, the Board decided that the Board Secretary will sign the minutes each month after approval to make them official. | WOW Presentation |
Bill Harmer presented the Rock and Roll Library Tour featuring The High Strung band. The band is playing at 35 public libraries this summer. NPR is now doing a feature story on this tour. |

| Financial Report |
Marti Custer reported that the second half of state revenue and penal fines will not come in until after the first of July. $119.741.00 will be encumbered for Sirsi and $23,205.70 will be encumbered for Media Technologies. A motion to approve vouchers for May and certifying of claims was initiated by Jan Bird. Paul Vander Meer seconded the motion. VOTE: Yeas, Ileane Thal Joan Heinicke Paul Vander Meer Jan Bird Nays, None Absent, Tom Sweeney Ann Conigliaro Marti Custer will present the vouchers in the amount of $250,431.92, to Ann Conigliaro to be signed |

Julie Farkas updated the Board on the summer reading programs which begin the first week of June. |

| President's Report |
Ileane Thal said that a community committee is needed for the millage campaign and asked Board members to send their ideas to her. The members of the committee need to be Birmingham residents. |

| Director's Report | Marti explained the information on the pending District law was in the Board packet because it is a major change in library law and she wanted the Board to be aware of it. Marti passed out a handout of output measures. The input from the public goes into Library goals for next year. |

| Associate Directors' Report | Doug Koschik said there was another conference call with Sirsi today. Currently the go-live date is November 17 th. Everything is going well. Ann Conigliaro joined the meeting at 8:02 P.M. She had the vouchers presented to her with a note explaining they were previously approved. | ||

Ann Conigliaro said the only activity was the meeting with Marti dealing with Trust. |

| Personnel |
Paul Vander Meer said the committee reviewed the 2005/2006 salary scale which has been adjusted this year for cost of living. A motion to approve the 2005/2006 salary scale was made by Ann Conigliaro. Paul Vander Meer seconded. VOTE: Yeas, Ileane Thal Ann Conigliaro Paul Vander Meer Joan Heinicke Jan Bird Nays, None Absent, Tom Sweeney Paul Vander Meer reported that the committee had reviewed the personnel survey idea. It was decided not to tie it with performance evaluation. The survey will be created with the help of Marti Custer and the management staff. It will probably happen sometime in October. |

| Miscellaneous | It was decided that Jan Bird and Paul Vander Meer will make the millage presentation to the city commission, which will be on July 25th. The ballot language has been approved by the lawyer. Marti Custer requested a closed session for her performance review. Paul Vander Meer made a motion to go to a closed session. | Public Comment | Seth Chafetz thinks the Library should take a good look at projected revenues for next year. He also questioned the expense of the luncheon to reward employees. Seth said the city manager does reviews publicly and the Library should too. He asked about the amount of Rotary dues. Marti Custer said she had made the decision to pay the Rotary dues personally. |
