Some people think that librarians are there to simply help find or recommend books. Yet many patrons have discovered they are a much greater resource.
As the owner of a marketing company in Birmingham, Greg Blass learned firsthand the invaluable assistance of highly skilled reference librarians.
“My work is largely research based, and in my field researched based marketing is really what differentiates your customers, products, and services from other companies,” says Blass, who has also learned to utilize the services of regional libraries when he is out of state and in need of particular local information.
For the past twenty years, when he has been stumped on a challenging research issue, Blass invariably has turned to the Baldwin reference librarians for assistance.
“Many times I have called on the phone and they’ve found what I needed while I was put on hold,” says Blass. “Other times they’ve emailed me an important link or even just helped me find an appropriate keyword in Google that maybe I missed. They’re really seasoned detectives, and no matter what the question is, the staff always seems able to assist me. They’re like a division of my company.”
