Harriet Tubman

Martin Luther King Day Celebration Starring Miz Rosie as Harriet Tubman

Monday, January 19 at 3:00 p.m.
All Ages

Storyteller Rosie Chapman brings history to life with her reenactment of Civil War heroine Harriet Tubman, one of the most unique and courageous women in American history. Her performance includes audience participation and has thrilled children and adults all over the United States and around the world.

Our popular First Grade/First Card program will be available here at the Library as you get ready for the start of school. Youth staff will present a special program for students entering First Grade, including the opportunity to get their very own library card! First Graders will also receive a special gift from The Friends of the Library. Get a library card - the best school supply!

Lee Gaddies, Detroit art instructor and CCS graduate, will lead Tweens through the process of creating a comic book character, story, setting, and illustration.


Music Notes

Saturday at the Library: Tunes and Tales with Viola and Cello

Saturday, January 24 at 10:30 a.m.
All Ages

Shanda Lowery-Sachs, cellist with the DSO, and her daughter Priscilla Hawkins, professional violinist, prseent children's stories using narration, live music, and movement. The presentation includes a short demonstrations of the cello and viola.
