
Battle of the Books
Adult Battle of the Books!
Wrap up Summer Reading by battling other readers in a literary contest to the death! Or just come have fun with friends who like to read. Your team, of up to five adults (18+), will read five books we’ve chosen covering various genres and styles. The titles are listed below and limited copies are available at BPL in variety of formats. Book themed spirit wear or costumes are encouraged but not required. Snacks will be provided and prizes will be given!
Key Dates for the Adult Battle of the Books 2025
- Battle registration will open on May 1st at 9:30 a.m. and remain open until all spots are full.
- Beginning May 3rd, sign up for Baldwin’s Summer Reading Challenge (June 13th- August 8th) and count all of your reading toward awesome prizes.
- Join us on Thursday, August 7th at 7:00 p.m. to compete with other teams by answering trivia questions based on the books.

Battle of the Books is a reading competition for all fourth and fifth graders in the Birmingham Public School district, designed to foster a love of reading and encourage students to read books outside their comfort zone. Students read six books and compete against other teams in a battle of trivia questions.
